Teacher
Jasper Mountain operates a school at both agency sites, SAFE Center & Jasper Mountain Center. We are a K-8 private school operated by Jasper Mountain, a private non-profit agency which provides treatment services for traumatized children in residential and day treatment settings. Jasper Mountain School is registered through the Oregon Department of Education as a Private Special Education Provider. The school works closely with Springfield Public Schools and specializes in students with serious mental health and behavioral issues.
Work Site:
Jasper Mountain Center - 37875 Jasper-Lowell Road Jasper OR 97438- Located 15 miles southeast of the Eugene/Springfield area.
Hours/Days:
Full time Teacher position for 2024/25, school operates on a year-round calendar, 200-day school year.
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's degree is required. Master's degree is preferred but not required.
- Oregon Teaching License or equivalent required.
- Special Education Certification much preferred.
- Experience and/or training in child development including the issues and implications of child abuse and its effect on the learning styles and behavior of elementary school-aged children.
- A willingness to work closely with the school Treatment Team to develop alternative and innovative instructional strategies.
Duties:
- Teach smaller sized, multi-age classrooms.
- Provide individual, small group, and classroom instruction.
- Plan and teach individualized programs for special needs students.
- Develop individualized educational plans (IEPs) for identified students and conduct/participate in IEP meetings effectively and routinely.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, students, parents, and community.
- Work closely and collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to improve the student educational process.
- Demonstrate the ability to establish a sound system of classroom management and the ability to work collaboratively with classroom behavior/treatment staff, creating a therapeutic learning environment.
- Experience and understanding of Response to Intervention.
- Have effective written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
- Participate in scheduled staff meetings and planning sessions.
- Assist with student testing.
- Other duties may be assigned.
- Note: Agency practices include use of Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) non-violent crisis intervention approach for de-escalation and safety. Training provided.
Compensation:
Salary depends upon education and years of experience in the field and has a range of $45,648 - $58,432 for a Bachelor’s Degree and $50,432 - $64,560 with a Master’s, depending on experience. Benefit package applies, including 100% employer paid health insurance for the employee, HRA, FSA, dental, vision, Aflac, 403b, training funds and paid time off.
