Salary and Benefits 

The hourly range is $18.12 - $23.84 depending on education/experience plus a generous benefit plan.  This position does not qualify for insurance benefits due to number of work hours.

About the Position

 

Springfield Public Schools seeks outstanding candidates for the position of Educational Assistant - Behavior & Instruction at Maple Elementary School.

 

To support this work, successful candidates will possess the following characteristics that support our vision of Every Student, Every Day:

 

 

This position provides a variety of tasks in support of and preparation for the educational process as well as duties of instructional assistance to the teacher in a school setting.  The position may facilitate the smooth operation of the educational program in one or more classes by attending to details which assist the teacher and student(s).  This position may provide tutoring, instruction, behavior management through social/emotional support, supervision, and clerical support, and may be required to adapt curriculum and instruction for students whose primary language is other than English.  This position may provide support for students with medically fragile needs.  This position works with students in 1:1, small group, general education and special education settings. This is a variable hour position currently assigned 6 hours.

Skills to: apply student de-escalation strategies in a variety of unique situations and environments; transition smoothly from one task to another, through multiple environments within a school day.

 

Ability to: understand and apply District and school policies and procedures; maintain appropriate appearance and attire; maintain attendance standards as outlined in OSEA bargaining agreement; greet stakeholders; provide information pertaining to area and/or District/School policies, procedures and other pertinent information; operate maintain and arrange for repair various office/school equipment; establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted during the course of work and from diverse backgrounds; maintain records; utilize keyboarding skills commensurate with the required functions for this position; communicate effectively both orally and in writing; utilize appropriate grammar and spelling when corresponding, make mathematical calculations accurately; follow oral and written instructions; practice cultural competency and demonstrate respect for diversity.
