About the District 

 

Springfield Public Schools is located in Springfield, Oregon, in the heart of the Willamette Valley, and serves 185 square miles of the city of Springfield and East/Central Lane County. We are directly east of Eugene, where the University of Oregon is located. We currently have about 10,000 students, 1,410 total employees (667 of whom are teachers) in our Kindergarten through Grade 12 school district. Salary and Benefits 

 

The hourly range for this position is $21.79 - $28.67 (Range 13 - Based on the 2023-24 OSEA Classified salary schedule)  depending on education/experience plus a generous benefit plan.

 

About the Position

 

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibilities. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

• Perform maintenance and repair work on plumbing for all District owned properties. Utilize specialized skills to ensure the upkeep and safety of District property for students, staff, and community members;
• Complete appropriate logs, forms and paperwork, as required;
• Inspect, diagnose and repair plumbing systems including, but not limited to boilers, heating systems, commercial kitchen equipment, sinks, toilets, sewers, and water supplies;
• Maintain water and drain systems to ensure proper operation;
• Perform backflow testing and necessary repairs and maintenance, as licensed;
• Maintain and repair pumps and tanks, pressure vessels, and water distribution from wells;
• Maintain and repair piping and equipment for propane, gas, diesel, and natural gas lines;
• Perform and deliver samples of all required water testing;
• Submit requests for supplies, equipment, and personnel for maintenance projects.

 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

 

Certificates as determined by the District including ability to obtain a valid Wastewater System Operator T/I-D.E.Q., Backflow Assembly Test, have a current valid Oregon Driver license and pass district provided Safe Schools Training.

 

Education and/or Experience:

 

High school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED), and four years’ experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Thorough working knowledge of plumbing maintenance work, including methods, materials, and equipment used in skilled plumbing maintenance work. Previous experience working in a plumbing maintenance position preferred.

 

Ability to:

• Work well with others from diverse backgrounds.
• Successfully and appropriately work with students, staff, parents and community members.
• Communicate fluently; verbally and in writing in English.  
• Read professional journals, technical procedures, and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, blueprints, procedure manuals and governmental.
• Write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
• Meet timelines and work in a dynamic environment.
