Description

Springfield Public Schools seeks outstanding, qualified candidates for the position of School Psychologist.  The 1.0 FTE School Psychologist ‘pool’ positions will be assigned a site or sites after the District determines needs for each of the buildings. The amount of time and individual assigned to each site will be dependent upon several factors.

 

In general, the following skills and attributes are necessary to be a successful school psychologist in the Springfield Public School District:

  • A valid Oregon license in School Psychology;
  • Knowledge of research-based reading/writing/mathematics curricula and instructional practices;
  • Experience in facilitating grade-level team meetings and able to provide instructional and curricular;recommendations;
  • Understanding of Response to Intervention (RtI) and system-wide model of implementation;
  • Knowledge of school-wide positive behavioral supports;
  • Experience in working collaboratively with general and special education teaching staff;
  • Ability and commitment to practice cultural competency and demonstrate respect for diversity;
  • Experience conducting comprehensive educational and psychological evaluations;
  • Experience conducting functional behavioral assessments and developing function-based behavioral support plans;
  • Master's or Doctoral degree in field of education;
  • Ability to work effectively with staff and parents to improve student achievement

We have a large team of highly skilled School Psychologists ranging in experience from twenty (20) years to two (2) years. Many of our staff worked as interns in our District and continued after receiving their degree. We meet as a team once a week to discuss difficult cases, collaborate, learn, and problem-solve. Also, our School Psychologists are considered a critical team member at the school level; they work closely with the Principal, academic teams, and behavioral support teams to ensure outstanding services for our students.
